AHEAYS ON TAVO-HANDED STYLE. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Aug. 9. That a tennis player who uses two hands to make a stroke will never rise to No. 1 world rank was the opinion expressed to-day by Air G. Patterson, the well-known authority on tennis, who was a through passenger by the Aorangi, accompanied by his wife and child. He said that too much time was taken in making such a stroke and the game was too fast to permit that loss of time. The style of a freak player tended to he. cramped. .
Discussing the Davis Cup, contest, Air Patterson said that the Americans were unquestionably superior to the Australians. Quist, he thought, was the ’■>=t in Australia now that Crawford had been played far too much. A Sydney lad aged 16. named Gilchrist, was thought to have a tennis future. He predicted that more would be heard of him.
