WOMENS WORLD

Miss K. Simpson, of Marton, is visiting Christchurch and is the guest of Blrs Gerrit van Asch. Miss M. Ireland, of Palmerston North, is visiting Wellington.

A brother and sister who had not seen each other for 36 years met last week in Wellington, when Bliss H. A. Vartan, formerly matron of the Church of Scotland Mission Hospital. Tiberias, Palestine, arrived on a visit to her brother, Mr R. JB. Vartan, of Dannevirke. The last occasion on< which they saw each other was in Edinburgh in 1901: Miss Vartan is now in Dan-' nevirke, where she will remain for an indefinite period.

Bliss Mary Boyd, of Wellington, has won a travelling scholarship to the University College, London, and has left for England. Miss Boyd, who is only 23 years of age, graduated master of science with first-class honours at Victoria University College in 1934. She also won the senior univerity scholarship in 1934 and the Jacob Joseph Scholarship in 1935-36. She has been graduate president of the Evangelical Union of Victoria University College and a keen worker in connection with the Children's Special Service Mission. Bliss Boyd’s special study is zoology.
