Miss Mona Neale, who returned from Christchurch owing to the illness of her mother, Mrs R. Neale, went south this week. However, it is her intention to tako up her residence in Shannon. Miss .T. Stuart is the guest of Mrs R. Boyd, Ballance Street. Miss Delaney, Now Plymouth, is the guest of her sister, Mrs E. Rowe, of Moutca. Mr and Mrs L. H. Best, Kingston Road, have returned from Wanganui and New Plymouth. Miss Gretchcn Tippler, of the Palmerston North Hospital staff, is spending her leave with her mother, Mrs R. Tippler, Ohauru Road. The children of Buckley have handed in £7 6s to the headmaster of the Shannon School, which has been placed to the credit of the swimming bath fund. On Wednesday evening, Mrs Elliott, Girl Guide District Commissioner, visited Shannon for the purpose of enrolling eight new members to the Shannon company of Girl Guides. A parking area outside the Vogel Street boundary of t.lio Domain is to bo provided. The monthly social afternoon of the ladies of the Anglican Church took place on Wednesday. Items wero contributed by Mrs Goodwillio (song), Mrs J. Jamison (song), vocal duet by Mrs McMecking and Mrs Jamison, a tap dance by Connie Packer, and a recitation by May Goodwills. The hostesses woro Mrs Wartng-Tay-lor and Mrs Clark. Three competitions wero won by Mrs E. W. Burgin, Mrs J. Jnmison, and Mns Allerby and Mrs Jarnison. , At the Women's Institute card party Mrs J. McLaggan won the first prize arid Mrs Pedersen the second. The consolation went to Mrs C. Stem.
