FEILDING STOCK SALE.
FAT SHEEP IN DEMAND.
Heavy offerings of fat sheep did not prevent prices from stiffening up at the stock sale at building yesterday, rates for iat ewes especially advancing appreciably. A heavy entry of lamlts sold readily at previous rates, fat wethers finning up, especially lor good woolled sheep. The yarding of store sheep was greater in numbers than at recent sales, but the quality was not pronounced and prices wore rather easier. There was only a fair vale of store lambs, and in some cases vendors’ values were not reached. One of the features of the sale was the demand for boner cows, export buyers operating readily and taking prices to a higher level than has been known for many months. Heavy potter bulls made to £6 7s 6d,
The fat stock comprised almost vholly ex-dairy breeds, which sold at firm prices, cow beef going to 22s per 100 lb. Good Shorthorn bullocks over-aged £1 5s per 100
Dairy stock of quality made higher prices than previously, but it was apparent that backward and poor quality cows and heifers were not wanted.

Ltd. report on the Feilding sale: GoOd entries in the sheep pens and just medium entry in most of the cattlo sections came forward. Fat lambs were forward in heavy numbers, and there was good competition with a sound sale. A small entry of fat wethers sold to a slight improvomenl, while a full entry of fat ewes sold to strong competition, prices, if anything, being a shade firmer than last week’s. Three races of breeding ewes, mainly full lo failing mouths, met with steady competition at no quotable change. The entry of hoggets was about the same as last week’s, with tho absence of any useful lines of ewe hoggets. For best bright wether hoggets the demand was strong, with a firm tone. Small lots of inferior lambs did not meet With such good competition. A fair entry of beef cattle sold readily, with little quotable change. Store cattle were confined to boner cows, and with export buyers operating this section showed a substantial increase in price. A slightly heavier entry of dairy cattlo mot with active competition for cows and heifers close to prolit.
