FATAL MEXICAN RIOTS.

REDISTRIBUTION OF LAND. Fourteen were killed and 21 were injured in riots which followed the distribution of land of the £1,000,000 estate of William Jenkins, a former United States Consul in Mexico Cit.v. Mr Jenkins had long escaped tho effect of a law compelling the cutting up of large estates, ancl peasants in tho neighbouring villages of Izucar do Malamoros, Chintula, and Atencinco had demanded his deportation. Angry peasants attacked a number of em- | ployees of the Jenkins estate, who retaliated, and both sides used firearms.
