(From Our Own Correspondent.) BULLS, July 1. At a recent meeting of the Bulls branch of tho Farmers’ Un'on Mr F. C. Jurgens gave a comprehensive report on the interprovincial conference held in Dannevirke last month. Messrs Jurgens, A. \V. Anion and J. U. Wilson wero delegates from the Bulls branch. A letter was received from headquarters regarding the membership rally, and was discussed. The chairman informed the meeting that the executive was collecting the names of all farmers in tho district, and that a circular would be sent to all non-members to endeavour to secure their enrolment, lie stated that compulsory Unionism was abhorrent to farmers, but at the moment the Farmers' Union was not strong enough to be completely representative of the farming community. The annual subscription, ho said, was only £l, and it was hoped that all farmers would give a ready response to this appeal. The local branch could claim only 30 per cent of farmers as members, whereas in other districts branches bad 100 pei cent. - BULLS. July 2.

Amos (registrar), supplies the following list of vital statistics for the June quarter, with those of the corresponding period of 1936 in parentheses: Birtlis 3 (2); deaths, 1 ((3); marriages, 3 (2). There was a largo gathering at “Apa House” to bid farewell to Mr and Mrs W. Bracken, who are leaving for Levin after residing at Parcwanui tor fifteen years. The -early part of the evening was spent in card playing, the wind's being Miss Callesen and Mr 11. Last-ilarris. Mr A. Tattle presented Mrs Bracken with a handbag and Mr Bracken with a travelling rug, expressing regret at their departure. Mr Bracken suitably replied. Dancing was carried on until a late hour, a Lucky Gay Gordon being won by Mrs W. Bracken and Mr W. Bowen, and the lucky spot by Mr j I. Bracken and Miss Bracken. There was a good attendance at 'the Bulls Tennis Club's flag “500” party. Those at the winning table were Mesdamos J. E. Walker and E. Y. Wilson, and Messrs S. W. Ingram and F. F. Ralfe. The Bulls Basketball Chib sent a team |to Glen Oroua on Wednesday, and suffered defeat by 13 goals to 10. Scorcra for Bulls were Miss INI. Ivcarney (7) anti Miss Z. Neale (3). | Preparations are now well in hand for fho Bulls Football Chili’s grand jubilee ball, which will lie held in Bulls Town Hall on Wednesday, July 7. A full cr-, chestra of six instruments has been eu- I gaged, and the supper and incidentals will he in keeping with the- high standard set by the club. Mr V. Goodall. of Flock House, who is a member of the Bulls senior Rugby team, has not been-in good health recently, and lias entered hospital for treatment. His many friends will wish him a speedv recovery. Mr and Mrs T. IT. Radd left on : Thursday for the South Island. Mr Radd has disposed of his business in Bulls.
