OFFICIALLY OFF GOLD. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) Received July 2, 12.50 p.m. PARIS, July 1. France, for the first time since 1928, officially vent off the gold standard to-day. The low rate reached by the franc caused some uneasiness in financial circles. The Bourse showed an expected rise in quotations but less exuberantly than after the devaluation of October- The rise in Government stocks is relatively small. ’
A decree will lie published to-mor-row imposing penalties on shopkeepers for unduly raising food prices. Railway fares are being increased by 15 per cent.
A great number of decrees will be issued after the rising of Parliament, probably at the week-end or early in next week.
