OBITUARY.

MR F. A. VANDERLIP

WASHINGTON, June 30. The death has occurred of Frank Arthur Vanderlip, banker.

Educated at the University of Chicago, Mr Vanderlip became a reporter and later financial editor of the Chicago Tribune, and was associateeditor of the Economist, Chicago, from 1894 to 1897. - Assistant-Secretary of the Treasury from 1897 to 1901, he beetle vicepresident in 1901 and later president of the National City Bank, New York. Ho was a trustee of the Carneigie 'Foundation, New York, and of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Boston. He has written largely oil politics and finance and received set oral foreign decorations.
