GAOL FOR KIDNAPPING.
CASE OF FATHER AND SON. NEIvToRK, Juno 30. At Newark, Ellis Parker was sentenced to six years’ imprisonment and his son Ellis Parker, junr., to three vears. His attorney lias filed notice of appeal.
The Lindbergh case produced a sequel at New York with the indictment of four men for kidnapping Paul Wendol, whoso “confession” of murdering the baby gained Ilauptnum three days of life after he had been scheduled to die. One of those indicted was Ellis Parker, junr., son of the famous Now Jersey detective, whom Governor Hoffman employed in an attonipt to prove Hauptmann innocent. According to the charge, Parker, junr., and his accomplices, assaulted Wcndel at Now York, kidnapped him, and field him prisoner while he was transported to New Jersey. The case developed in startling fashion when KUis Parker, junr., eluded the police, lie is alleged to have determined lo avoid indictment on the kidnapping charge. New Jersey officers curtly ordered Ellis Parker to arrest fiis eon on sight. Ellis Parker and his son, indicted in April with the kidnapping of Paul Wcndel, surrendered on October 20. under bench warrants, to ihe Federal authorities. The father was released on bail of 25,000 dollars and tile son on 10,000 dollars.
