VITAL STATISTICS.
MONTH AND HALF-YEAR. Vital statistics at Palmerston North for the month of June show that, on a comparison with those for the corresponding month of last year, there were two more births, nine, mole deaths one more marriage notice issued, and four fewer marriages by the registrar. I lie detailed figures for June, 1937, with those for the corresponding month, of last year in .parentheses, are as follow: —Births, 43 (41); deaths, 35 (26); marriage notices issued, 30 (29); marriages by the registrar, 4 (S). In the six months of this year now completed there were 33 more births registered than in the first six months ot last year, five more deaths, 24 fewer marriage notices issued, and 10 fewer marriages performed by the registrar. In the following details the figures tor the first six months of this year are given first and those for the corresponding period ot last year in parentheses: —Births. 315 (282); deaths, 146 (141); marriage notices issued, 100 (184); marriages, performed by registrar, 27 (37).
