The Oliakea and Bulls Miniature Rum Clubs met on tho local range on Monday to fire tho first of the matches m the second round, and Bulls proved victorious in the ClifTo-Remington match nj 14 points and Oliakea won the M.M.Iv.A. match bv 7 points, each team being a man short. Ellery, 65-59—124; total, 657. , T On Wednesday the Oliakea Women s Institute held a card and dance evening in the Oliakea Hall. Tho winners wore Mrs J. Capstick, Mrs A. V. Matthews, Messrs ]\ Frecklington and W. Klatt. Monte Carlo dances were won by Miss J. McKinnon and Mr G. Taylor and Air and Mrs H. Ellery. Music tor dancing was supplied by Mr Feeney. The monthly meeting of tho Oliakea Women’s Institute was held in the Oliakea Hall recently. There was a good attendance and a demonstration on fancy butter making was given by Mrs IT. Palmer. Ihe monthly competition, “Something New From Something Old,” was won by Mrs L. Ivobcrstein (senior) and Miss M. Iremain (junior). The clothes lor the competition were donated to. the A\ illard Home. Palmerston North. The competition for tho “beat bloom in my garden ’ was won by Mrs E. Ingram (senior) and Miss I. Matthews (junior). The competition for the August meeting is for best darned sox. and a travel talk on “Life in Samoa will be given. • , , A start lias already been made with the establishment of the Oliakea aerodrome, workmen's tents and wood for the building of huts being now on the.site. Mr and Airs H. J. Palmer arc on a holiday in the East Coast and Bay of Plenty districts. Air X. Ingram has left for a holiday m the Waikato district. Mrs Jones, of Dunedin, who has been the guest of Airs J. Capstick, has returned home.
