MARLBOROUGH MEETING. (Par Pres* Association.) BLENHEIM, May 1. The Marlborough races are being held in good weather. Following are the • results:—■ Novices’ Handicap, 5 furlongs.— Tempean 1, Astonform 2, Morning Gift 3. Scratched: Tikima and Chukka. Won by half a length. Time 1.2 4-5. Hillersden Trot, one mile and ahalf.—May Reta 1, Ashley Belle 2, Welcome Boy 3. Scratched: Victor Hovu. Won by four lengths. Time 4.7 4-5. CHAMPIONS TO MEET, GLOAMING AND THE HAWK. CHRISTCHURCH, April 30. R. J. Mason left for the north by to-night’s ferry steamer, taking Gloaming and Haze. Gloaming did a particularly good gallop over six furlongs at Riccarton yesterday, and will be well forward to contest his two races at the Hawke’s Bay Jockey Club’s meeting.
Nominations for all events for the Wanganui Jockey Chib’s meeting close with the secretary (Mr W. Hall) on Monday, May 4, at 8 p.m.
