Montgomery's Entertainers.

As previously announced Montgomery's Entertainers perform at the Zealandia Hall to-night. The Dannevirke Advocate, after referring in complimentary terms to the songs contributed by Misses Blanche Hargood and May Dagmar, and Messrs Montgomery, Harry Hall and F. Gibson, and the neat and graceful juggling of Zeno, says:—-"The piece de resistance of the programme, however, was the exhibition which was given by Professor Parker, who has earned for himself the title of the " Handcuff King." The Professor, -who is a man of slim build and no appearance of great physical strength, undertakes to free himself from any set of regulation handcuffs, no matter how they may be fastened on, and he certainly did so last night, to the complete satisfaction of the audience and the committee of gentlemen who went upon the stage to examine the-cuffs, chains and padlocks used. The actual freeing was done inside a cabinet, and thus the public were not permitted to see, but, as the Professor explained, he only undertook to free himself from the manacles, he did not undertake to show how it was done—that was his secret and his living. After he had escaped from several of the well-known methods of handcuffing a gentleman mounted the stage with a pair of American check lock cuff's and challenged the Prof essor to put them on. The Professor said his challenge only referred to regulation handcuffs, but with Mr Montgomery's permission he would put them on, although it might take minutes or it might: take hours to take them off. "Well, pu tthem on," said Mr Montgomery, and accordingly the Professor did so, but it did not take.-very longto get them off, and when he appeared with the cuffs in his hands he was warmly applauded. ■ Finally he was bound up with 1 cwt of chain, six pairs ef handcuffs, two padlocks, and a pair of leg irons, but after a few minutes retirement in the cabinet he shook them off and came out a free man for whom locks, bolts and bars apparently have no terrors.". . : : ■
