Band of Hope.
The Broad-street Methodist schoolroom was well filled last night, when the usual Band of Hope meeting was held. Mr W. Dixon acted as chairman. The programme, which was very long and varied, was much appreciated by all. Miss Isobel Brown played a pianoforte solom splendid style, for which she received a well deserved encore. ■ Little Miss Gwen Gunn was also encored for her singing of " Lord, I Come." Mr H. Mowlem gave a "chalk talk," which was listened to with great interest, especially by the children. The following is the programme:—Opening hymn, -'Hold the Fort"; prayer; selection (concertina), Mr Haycock; duet and chorus, Misses Beattie and Tregurtha, " Gathering Flowers," with action, assisted by Misses Collingwood (3), Hodson and Doris Pascoe; recitation, "Comrades," Master Magnusson; pianoforte solo, Miss Isobel Brown .(encored); action song, "Lord, I Come," Miss Gwen Gunn (encored); recitation, Mr Louis Verry, "Our Jamie's Return"; lecture, Mr E Mowlem (diagrams on blackboard); duet, " Very Suspicious," Miss Beattie arid Mr W. Richardson; recitation, Master Frank Verry, "Little Mary"; duet, "Heavenly "Sunlight," Misses Cunninghame and Mather; violin solo, Mr A.Poad; selection (concertina), Mr Haycock; accompaniments during the evening were played by Misses Crooke, Tregurtha, Beattie, Jackson and Brown. The meeting then closed with the Benediction. The next meeting will probably be the last one for this season and an exceptionally good programme is to be arranged. It was omitted from the report of last meeting that the Rev. Mather was chairman.
