Ratepayers' in the Hiwinui Riding can vote at either .of the, following booths, viz., Hiwinui school,? Spur Road schoolhouse, Mr Kerrigan's-. (Pohangina toad), and. Mr Bogun's (Palmerston road). .Unhke. previous loans submitted to .a poll, this schedule? of works has been; thoroughly discussed at different 'meet-, ings'of. ratepayers,-with the result that: the Council,.in deference -tothe wish ;of ratepayers, struck off that objectionable feature, the Siberia Road. Tins leaves a schedule acceptable to the: majority, and one which has. been adopted at meetings held at Ashhurst and Hiwinui.

This is the second attempt made to carry, a loan for these necessary works,' and it is to be hoped that every rate-. payer will evince sufficient interest in the election to record his vote for or against the loan. Every ratepayer is fully entitled to his opinion, but there are no two sides to the question that those who are for progress will vote for the loan asa whole, notwithstanding that ' there niay be some?niinor work .of whjch he does not entirely approve. We must remember '*. the greatest good for the: greatest number," and vote accordingly. The following works are of great interest to the township, viz., all streets to be made, footpath to railway crossing, also, 20 chains up the Feilding and Palmerston roads respectively; regrading and fencing the corner where tne roads meet on Wgeherley"s hill, widening Creamery road to allow of niilk carts passing each other, diverting Spur road to miss the present outlandish arid unsightly hill and to regrade two other hills,-bridge over Stoney Creek opposite Mr Eelsall's property on the Bunnythorpe road, regrading first hill Todd's road; new bridge foot of Spur road, and Palmerston road near railway station, and two new concrete culverts on Palmerston road, making Grove road, from Mr Franklin's, on Feilding road, to Mr Osborne's, on Bunnythorpe road (this road joins Martin Hart's road and should have been made years ago); widening the corner of Martin Hart's and Bunnythorpe roads; forming, kerbing and metalling footpath on two sides of the reserve opposite the Commercial Hotel, and part cost of fencing same-(this will do away with the remark that one reserve in the township looks better, thanthe other). "■■ ■~ c -,;?",,.-'.?■ -.•_ As regards'the remainder?of works to be done out-of the loan; 'it caai. safely be; said that they will be beneficial to the farmers and an iruyrovernentto the- district generally.' :
