Dr. Cleghorn Dead.
(Per Press Association.) Waxgaxui, Wednesday. Dr Cleghorn, well-known throughout tbe colony, died suddenly at his residence last night. Some hours before he attended a patient and retired to bed apparently m good health. . He awoke later and told his wife he thought he was dying and asked her to send for another medical gentleman. -.Before lie arrived, however, Dr Cleghorn expired. Deceased was suffering from angina pectoris, and his death was not altogether unexpected.
Wellington, Wednesday. A private telegram states that Dr. Cleghorn died suddenly at Wangauui this morning. [Dr. Cleghorn was considered one of the most skilful surgeons in the culony, and has been to Palmerston frequently of late to perform operations, only last week performiug an important operation here. Dr. Cleghorn was a well-known sport, and his horses raced here last meeting.l
District-Judge Kettle received a telegram from Sub-Inspector Kiely this morning containing tho sad news, death being attributed to apoplexy. His Honor wired in reply that the matter was to be officially reported to tho Acting-Coroner.
