Aucklakd, Juno 9.
A nativo named Takirau was accidentally scalded to death at Tokaanu, at tho south end of Lake Tuupn, yesterday morning. Whilst going to bathe, he fell into a boiling mud spring alongside tho path, and was with difficultj extricated, owing to tho treacherous nature of the ground.
He lingored until about noon in intense agony, as the whole of his body below tho neck was terribly scalded. Inspector Cullen has received a report from Aratapu, regarding tho supposed drowning of William Keane, fireman employed on tho p.b. Ethel.
It appears that on tho night of June 4ih, Keivno left tho steamer at tho Dargaville wharf to take a keel boat to anothor wharf, about a quurti-r of a mile away. Captain Walker went along to the wharf to help Koano to haul the bout up, and when about half way i:e thought his heard a groan and a faint "cooco." The captain aroused tho crew, wlio searched, but neither man nor boat could bo found.
Nhlsok, Juno 0. Mr Georgo La.st Harris, of Harris and A (more, printers, etc., died suddenly ra Iris rcsidenco to-day. Ho was about leaving to proceed to work, when ho wns taken ill and died before a doctor could arrive. Tho supposed cause of death i-i heart disease. Ho leaves a widow and oloveu children.
