RETURNED INVALIDS.
Sydney, May 29. There was but little enthusiasm today -over the return of the invalided soldiers from South Africa, though the streets were crowded to witness the pro cession from the wharf to the barracks. No military display was made, and the absence of music made the function tame. The public had apparently exhausted their enthusiasm at the relief of Mafeking celebrations. The military authorities entertained the men and a number of leading citizens at luncheon.
The Premier (Sir William Lyne) and other guests at the luncheon warmly welcomed the invalided soldiers back.
The New Zealanders, pending their departure for their homes next week, are quartered at the barracks. They improved immensely during the voyage from the Cape^and are now pulling round nicely.
