THE JERSEY RIOT.

London, May 29. A female shopkeeper who p'^voked the riot at St. Helier's, in Jersey, on Mafeking day, was sentenced to four days' imprisonment.

The Hon St. John Brodriek, Parliamentary Secretary to the War Office and M. Camben, the French Minister in Lon, don, made representations with regard to the disturbances.

The Governor o£ Jersey has accordingly taken every precaution to prevent a recurrence of such scenes.
