THE TROPEA AT ALBANY.

Auckland, May 29. Mr J. H. Witherford, M.H.E., has received a cablegram from Albany stating that the transport Tropea, with New Zealand remounts on board, has arrived at the port. She met with a heavy gale, in which 19 horses were lost. The rest are in fair condition. The steamer was hove-to tor 17 hours.

Christchurch, May 29. The officers of the Stock Department here have received a cable message from Mr Trenery, who went in charge of the horses on the Tropea, that only three were lost on the voyage to Albany.
