Replyi og to questions, it was stated that steps had been taken to set aside suitable allotments of agrictural land for working men with limited means, so as to enable them to become possessed of permanent homes.— That if the ■ystom of fortnightly payments to persons emplayed m the Public Works Department were resorted to it would lead to a large increase m the expenditure of the department. PROGRESS .OF BILLS. The Hon. Mr Tole moved the second reading of the Justices of tho Peace Act Amendment Bill. The- motion was agreed to.
