Hospital Board.
A upeccial meeting of the Wanganui District Hospital Board was held at the Borough Council Chambers yesterday morning. There were present— Messrs Jackson (chairman), Poison, Peat, West, Beckett, and Robert Wilson.— Dr Earle's resignation was read. Mr Beckett moved, «nd Mr .Wilson seconded— That this Board, whilst accepting with regret Dr "Earle's resignation, wish to place on record their very high appreciation of the able and satisfactory manner m which he has carried out the arduous .duties imposed upon him during his loner iterm of office extending over twenty Tears.— Carried.— Mr West moved, and "Mr West seconded, the appointment of ivro surgeons at a salary of £1 00 each. — After somo considerable discussion the proposition-was carried. — The chairman stated that the nurse at the Hospital had resigned. — It was decided that the secretary should be empowered to engage a nurse when necessary.— Mr Peat moyed that the plans of th<* proposed Hospital extension be submitted lo the Hospital iurgeon and to the Inspector-General of Hospitals for their approval.— Seconded by Mr West and carried.— The number ito form a quorum was reduced from 5 .to 3 —Moved by Mr West, andsecoiided •hy Mr Peat, That, with the view of beeping better control over the admission of to the Hospital, no patient shall an future be admitted to the Hospital without a certificate from a member ot the Board, except m cases of accident, »nd that the members jot the Board be supplied with printed forms and certificates.—Tho choice of surgeons fell upon upon Drs Connolly and BelJ, the voting being even", and the chairman beiner obliged to exercise his casting vote.
