As our Ashurst runner was coming down for his papers on Saturday:afternoon, he saw a pair of horses attached to a dray load of firewood,- gajleinng down "Duke Street towards the railway crossing at Main Street.. sTba: driver had fallen (through the firewood slikp'uig) under the- drav, where he. was being dragged along, oue foot --being .caught m the 1 rejns. The lad shouted to the hursus and tried to stop them, when they ran iulo the fence, add* brought up. Beyond a few contusions on- his wrist, the driver was fortunately unhurt, at least says the lad, "he was able to swear well at his horses, aud ' give them a good hammering." It is well it was no worpe.
