Export of Butter.
It will be remembered (says the Taranalci Herald) that Mr Corkill six weeks ago sent to various parts of the world samples of tinned butter. A letter has been received by Mr Oorkill from hi» Honolulu correspondent acknowledging the reoeipt o£ a sample tin of butter, packed by the Taranaki Butter Company (Limited"). He writes as follows : — " On receipt of your sample tin of butter we immediately placed it on ice; and after freezing it for aiCoupleof hours we opened it up and found it m first-rate order and condition. We send you trial indent for. 20001bs, to be placed m assorted sizes, and shipped to hs first steamer. \} T o shall do our utmost to in r traduce your brand successfully, and believe that a trade of two -or three tons per month can be created with little difficulty, provided" the quality ;of ; the present sample is maintained. We expect of course that you will secure to our firm a monopoly of your brand m this market." Mr Corkill informs 'us that the sample referred to was one of a number of lib tins mailed by him six weeks ago to correspondents m various parts of the world. That the butter should ;turh r out m such prime condition after being subjected to the very severe test of transit through the tropics m a oaiail bag must be , most satisfactory and encouraging to those who have at lieart the development of our dairying industry.. The butter would be doubtless in -a fluid state on its destination, hence the necessity -for freezing before opening.. The tins m which it ywas .sent awray were unsoldered, but have evidently proved to be most suitable for the packing of butter.
