We (Foxton paper) are very pleased to' notice that the honey, industry is developing m .this district; At Foxtpn Mr Lind has pat down a 'large number of L'angstrbth hives, arid has met with good success during the season m the matter of swarms. Out m the Carnarvon district the Germanson the Taikorea line have for several years "past raised large quantities of the saccharine fluid, and the present season has proved too exception to the rule. Mr Bredow, who works on the "bar frame -p rinciple, has had, one hundred tins made by Mr Gibsbn ; for ! - the purpose of 'sending his surplus honey m a-convenient manner to market. These tins will hold about ihfcee pounds' weight of honey, and will thus be very handy for disposal m the stores. Mr Gibson has also received an order jfor the supply of one hundred tins about the size of .Kerosene cans, for a German lady, b. ■ resident of. the tiame district, who wishes to send her surplus 'stock to the Home markets, a former shipment m boxes having not turned oat a complete success,;6'wing.t6 the honey immediately next the wooS turnitfg black. We are pleased , to note these signs of the progress of the bee industry, and hope to ihear, of many, of the : settler* along the • cottst- turning -their aitentipn to thiameans of augmenting their incomes. The climate is extremely favorable to bee culture, *ari& thY country H% prolific m; the supply of honey-producing flowers. ; All that is, ,wanted is the cnltivation of the industry upon intelligent arid scientific principles. -If thisis done, we are confident there is-money m it.
