Hospitals District Board.
The second meeting of the Hospitals District Board was held yesterday.when there were present — Messrs Jackson (m the ohair), Snalson, Thynne, West, Wilson, Maearthur, Poison, and Beckett. Regarding the subscriptions, the Chairreported that the following had been roceivad : — Charitable aid — Kiwitea £5, Martpn £b, Rangitikei, Halcombe £1 2s 6d, Manawatu, £5, Palmerston £10, Bulls £14 tOs, Turakina £2, Feilding £16, and Patea £100. Hospitals—Marton £4 18s 2d, Rangitikei £58 15s, Halcombe £1 12s, Mannwatu £39 ss, Palmerston £16 18s 9d. Bulls £2 7s lid, Turakina £1 8s 9d, Wanganui Borough £34 4s 6d, Waneanui County £38 15s Bd, Waitotara County £41 8s 9d, Dona tion £5. Total Charitable Aid £163 2s 6d. Hospitals £244 14s 6d. The chairman acknowledged the receipt of £5 from an anonymous contributor. It was resolved, That as a commencement of a library for the hospital-patients the clerk be instructed to insert an advertisement m the newspapers asking the residents throughout the district to send to the custodian of the hospital any volumes of books they may have to spare, and also such illustrated papers as they may have finished with. That m the new regulations to be framed the payment of travelling expenses of the members be provided for, by empower mg 1 actual expenses out of pocket to be reimbursed out of . the funds m possession of the board. The next meeting to be held on the second Wednesday m January.
