BOROUGH COUNCIL.

THIS DAY,

The annual meeting of the Borough; Council was held to-day, when the following Crs were present— His Worship the Mayor, and Ct#? J. and T. King, S. Abrahams, R. S. Abraham; McNeil, Hawkins, and Rush. The Mayor-elect, Mr A. Ferguson, was also present. Correspondence was read and dealt with, and tenders opened for position of dog registrar, and supply of dog collars. For the former Mr Jordan was appointed, and for the latter Mr Pringle's tender was accepted. A committee was appointed to arrange matters m connection with an offer received from Mr George of Wellington, to supply the town of Palmerston North with gas. The Mayor read the usual declaration to his successor, Mr Alex. Ferguson, who signed the document and took his seat as mayor of the Borough for the ensuing year. The retiring Mayor and Mayor-elect each made remarks appropriate to the occasion, a report of which is held over.
