A meeting of Irishmen has been held m Boston, with the object of raising funds to aid Mr Parnell. The Mayor presided, and both he and the Governor of 'Massachusetts delivered speeches, m which they expressed sympathy with the Irish Nationalist cause. A sura of 10,000 dols. was promised as a first instalment. The pathetic story of the " Misletoe Bough *' has been repeated at Paris. A little boy named Bourse, living with his uncle and aunt m the Rue de la Chapelle, and treated as an adopted child, mysteriously disappeared. He was playing m the street. His aunt took him an apple and bread, and nothing more was seen of him. A neighbour remarked that a chest which had stood empty m a shed at the end of a court was moved and placed upright against a cart-wheel. He tried to restore it to its horizontal position, and was surprised to find it heavy. Opening it he found the body of the missing child. There were no signs of violence. A post mortem examination showed that death was caused by suffocation. It is supposed that the child was playing " hide and seek," and that he either got m or was pushed into the chest by his playfellows. One of these, it is thought, sat on the lid. The boys, finding the child suffocated, agreed to keep the matter secret. The changing of the position of the chest is attributed to men who were re paving the court, and who perhaps paid no attention to its weight.
