Gold Prospecting m the King Country.

IMFORTANT PROPOSALS, (UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Wellington, Monday. Tlio Government have received the following telegram from Mr U. T. Wilkinson, Government agent at Alexandra : — " Had a meeting 1 with Mr John Onnsby yesterday. The following are the arrangement* we propose to carry out, and he started tliis morning to lay them before Taonui and others at Otorongaha and Te Kniti, and to get the names of the natives and half-castes who will accompany the European prospectors : — We propose to send out, if possible, five parties, i-nch to consist of not more than two Europeans, and win- re practicable only one. One party will take the Waipa Valley and the eastern side, and work m towards Rangiioto. Another will .start from Taumarunui (Ngatai's place). Upper Whanganui, and work inlo Tiihua. A third party will work- on the other side of the Pukeart'hu Range and prospect the upper Mokau country. A fourth parly will take the Hautiri Range &nd the district on thu west side of the Waipa river j and a fifth party (if decided upon), will take Whareuapa and m towards Tatipo. By this action I think the whole countr}' will be fairly tested. Inv stead of nominating nicu myself from the Thames, I hove asked th&< Warden thc-re to do so, m order to get the best available men of (lie present time for the work." Mr Wilkinson adds " that he will submit the names of' the prospectors selected to the Government almost immediately, so that the necessary Ministerial permit may be granted."
