Ponangina.
The latest news from the Pohangina, as far as we can learn, is contained m a letter and telegram received by' Mr Sharpe from Mr Corby. In the former the writer says that Anderson is still at work getting out stuff, saying he expects to reach the reef when, m a few feet further. The ."few feet" .have given urayjjoiother "few feet," and the same expectations are still held out, with no apparent prospects of getting nearer. Mr Corby advises the company to go to no further expense m connection with the matter. The telegram', which is from Ashurst, dated to-day, we - give as received — " Wellington geologist Anderson's reef to-day— home on Tuesday—; limestone." What that last woi'd indicates, we cannot say, but it looks suspiciously like saying that the famous reef is only limestone. Notwithstanding Mr. Corby's advice the company intend to keep an eya on the place where the last "etpne was got by Corby. Some of' thr^yras tested by Mr Bassott peraonally. on Saturday, aud gave a return equM to 14ozs to the ton. Where Jis this Pohaugina business, going to end, m a goldfield or a false alarm ? — Herald.
