Library Committee.

A meeting: of the Library Committee took place yesterday afternoon, at which were present Messrs ' B. Deary (m the chair), C. Walker, T. Wray, and. A. Ferguson. It was resolved that the thanks of the committee be expressed to Messrs Wise and Coffin.for the presentation of a fresh copy of the New Zealand Directory m lieu of the burnt one. A number of accounts were passed, and it was resolved to order for the tables the following periodicals m addition to those already received :— The Agricultural Gazette and Dairy Farmer, Blackwood's Magazine, and the Quarterly Review, also that a sample copy of "The. Feild " he oh- ! tamed. Resolved to. discontinue the ! Gardiner's Chronicle, and the Saturday Review, Mr Ferguson undertaking to present the latter publication gratis. ' The chairman stated that Mr Hurst had kindly .made a donatfon of £3 to the Library fund. The members of Committee expressed themselves highly gratified at Mr Hurst's liberality, and ventured to hope that other gentlemen m the. district would toliow suit and so materially aid m the quick establishment of a library worthy of the town.
