The Pohangina Reefs.

A press association telegram dated Wellington October 1 reads as follows : — Half a ton of stone found m the Pohangina block, near Ashurst, Palmerston, has yielded GOozs of silver and loz 3dwts of gold. One of the six shareholders has refused £500 for his interest." We doubt the authenticity of this statement. There is not time for' the result of the Ballarat crushing to be known, and no-other stuff has been sent away ~ that we know of. We are inclined to think that the Press Association has been made the victim of a hoax, and would caution our readers against beiugmisled by any exaggerated statements of the kind. Better wait the result of the trial crushing which will be made m due course from a trustworthy source.
