The entrance of the Theatre was last nigrht blocked for a considerable period prior to the commencement of tbe performance, by an inebriated stranger, who amused the onlookers by his maudlin gesticulations and silly speech. No attempt wasrnade to clear the footway or render the approach to the Theatre passable. .In this town it would appear to be an understood thing to accept those annoyances as customary occurrences. M«" H. C. A. Harrison, one of tho-vice- , presidents of the Victorian Football ABBsocifltion, stated at a meeting of the Association recently that wben he. was m London a few months' ago he hitd an interview with Mr Jackson the editor of Faslime, wbo said !that Fie expectnd next year to bring 24 football players of AllEngland and All-Scotland to play all round the Colonies. The men would be half Association men and half RugbyUnion, but they would play against Australian teams under the latter's own rules. The English and Scotch footballers would also play a series of exhibition matches of both kinds of games. They would arrive here about May, 1886. It is estimated that there will be between 3000 and 4000 members of friendly societies present at Wellington on the 15th. Mr Mitchelson, late Minister of Public Works under Major Atkinson, is taking a trip Home, "and will very likely resign his seat.
