The report atid balauce sheet shows a deficiency £157 oil the | year's operations. Tho Chiirman, m moving tho adoption, ,suid it wns the intention of the directors to resutnu the direct shipments from I'ieton tins, first favourable opportunity. Tho report and balauce sheet was adoptod ..after, some/ adverse critic-ism. The shareholders declined to re-elect tho retiring directors, but as none others were nominated the Chairman declared them ro elected, without putting the motion to the meeting, and ruled that no other could be nominated, legal notice not having been given. A shareholder then proposed a I'esolufcion m favour of winding up, but the chairman refused to accept it, as no special business couW be taken at the ordinary general meeting. A vote of thanks to tho directors was proposed, but found uo seconder until the solicitor to the company seconded it. The motion was then declared carried, two voices only being heard m its favour. The directors and their relations and friends hold the bulk ..of the shares, and no' adverse resolution can possibly ba carried. The company's lofcs on the shipments per Lady Joc'eiyn and Lyttelton were £388, aud private skippers m some cases lost heavily..
