Wanganul Stock Quotations.
MESSRS BARNS AND HIGGIE'S STOCK SALE REPORT. Onr sale on Wednesday, the 9th instant, was fairly attended. The bidding was not so brisk as usual, and the market for all classes of stock was rather* flat. Buyers are shy of making purchases owing to the scarcity of grass. Young cattle, steers m particular, still command attention, and realize good values* Beef, if anything, is a trifle higher, and mutton about the same. "We quote : — Cattle.— Fat cows, £4 10s to £5 ss; forward and store cows, 45s to 655 ; yearling 1 steers. £2 Is ; mixed yearlings, 355 ; calves, 13s. Sheep* — None of the sheep offered at sale were sold, but we sold a line of fat ewes privately at 12s 3d. Pigs.— Rather dull. Horses. — A few of inferior class came forward, some of which were sold, but the market for this class of stock is dull.
