Pohangina Reefs.

(To the Editor Rangitikei Advocate.) Sir, — Seeing your local of the Bth insfc., referring to Pohangina reefs, I thought I would send you the enclosed analysis from Mr Drew. The stone was taken promiscuously from one of the hags m Pahnerston by me, and from what I saw and could make out, I concluded that the gold did not run generally through the reef, but on the foot wall, and unless a prospector got hold of some of that stone he uriisrht have some difficulty m getting it : — Copt of Analysis, Per Mr Drew. — ' The wash from about lib. pf the rock, this afforded to essay a white button of argentiferous gold, weighing the 7th ot a cram, the approximate value of which was found to be as follows : — Silver, 53 ; Gold, 46 ; Copper, etc., I— total, 100. These results give a yield of this argentiferous gold equal to 13flwts. Bgrs. to the ton, hut it will he necessary, if true value be required, to put a larger quantity ot stone under assay. P.SV— Wlnn the Feililing prospectors went up, a slip (which I had predicted) had come down ; consequently, they were unable to see the formation of the reef. I saw it, ami the lode was formed snlid at the depth of 6ft. My private opinion is that if this crusting is poor it is no test of the reef, as they should have put down a drive on the source of the lode, " instead of sinking,
