The Committee of Inquiry, consisting of the Archbishop of Canterbury, Cardinal Manning, the Lord Mayor and Recorder of London, General Booth, and others whose names are' already known, have made their report m reference to the scandals disclosed by the Pall Mall Gazette. .After sifting the evidence of witnesses and the materials before them, the committee declare that the statements made soncerning the system of criminal vice m regard to the treatment of; young girls are, taken as as a whole, substantially true. (Tt should be added that amongst the witnesses examined by the above committee were the members of the Pall Mall Gaze Ate special service staff. They were made to produce shorthand notes of ' the interviews they had with the parties irom whom they.-ob-tained evidence of the existence' ot the state of things brought to light by the exposure articles. The reporters were prepared to produce documentary evidence, and photographs of certain individuals brought into prominence by the exposure m support of the case.)
