Stevens and Gorton's Report.
We held a very successful sale ot cattle at Woodville on August 13. Our yards were full and though the attendance was perhaps not quite so large, the bidding was spirited and we quitted .-ill the pens excepting one and fora few milkers m paddock vre quote rates realized below : — Cattle.— Small beef, £5 153; 8-yr stears, £4 5s to £4 12s 6d ; 2-yr steers, £3 7s 6d ; well-bred 2-yr heifers, £8 2s ■ 6d ; yearling heifers, 38s 6d ; store cows, £2 10s ; yearlings; 35s 6d ; milkers, £3 to £5 10s. At Bulls on 18th we yarded far more atool? than advertised, there being considerably over SOOhead ofcattle and nearly 2500 sheep m the pens. The attendance was good and bidding for cattle spirited throughout. We sold nearly every beast. Competition for the sheep was, however, not near so keen. We sold a good many pens but we must say the reserves were i a little too high. Prices realized were as follows : — Cattle —Small beef, £6 ; fat cows, £4 10s ; 3-yr steers, £3 17s Gd ; 2-vr steers, £3 ; 18-month steers, £2 12s 6d ; cows, £2 13s to £3 ; milkers, £3 to £6; yearlings (mixed), 30s 6d to 355. Sheep. — Fat wethers, 13s 6d j forward wethers, 12s ; ewes m lamb, 8s 9d j hoggets, 8s 3d to 9s 3d.
