THE DISPUTED ACCOUNT.
(TO TITE EDTTOR nY TBB STANDARD.") ' Sir, — I am ashamed as a burgesa to think that Mr Fenton lias been treated as he has by the Borough Council. He paid these charges out of his own pocket, and I am told beat every one down to the lowest, and now an attempt is being made to do him out 'of his moaey. Tarn ashamed sir,of such conduct. All did their best for the success of the Loan, it was carried and now what a man has paid out of pocket is not to be reimbursed. Well, sir, I am a poor man, but I vrill give five shillings to a subscription towards the amount. I hope the public will not let Mr Fenton have to suffer a loss. It will be a lasting disgrace if they do. The two Councillors who have have made themselves so busy m finding out something illegal m the matter, should be given a testimonial of the public opinion of them. — I am, &c. Ratepayer.
