Upper Taonui. — The committee wrote in reference to their former application for fencing the playground, and explainin 6 the difficulties in the way of getting legal possession of the land. Committee Business. — The board went into committee, and on resuming announced that a tender had oeen accepted for Palmerston Terrace End School. — Mr Baker had reported that Messrs Beckett, Hammond, and Dick had agreed to give two acres of land for a school in the Hunterville township extension, and the thanks of the board were ordered to be conveyed to these gentlemen for their gift. It was decided to accept the gift of the site offered by Messrs Silver and Co., of London, for a school at Paraekaretu. A list of unsatisfactory schools, and of teachers who persistently neglect instructions, was read and dealt with. The Inspector's salary was increased by £50 a year, and the assistant clerk by A'2s. An application from the Board's architects for an extra allowance of 1 per cent, on work done for the Board, was referred to the Finance Committee.
