The Argus, commenting on the Burnes murder case, considers that the affair reflects badly on tho Coroner's jury. Tuesday wau tho 28th anniversary of tho uixhl-hours' movement in this Colony. The demonstration was far more extensive and complete than on othnr occasions. Thirty four distinct trades joined in the procession, which numbered 10,000 persons. The sports at the Frieudiy Societies' Gardens were attended by an immense crowd, and were honored for the first time by the preseuce of Vice-Royalty. The Governor and Bu ite were entertained at a banquet on the ground. In the Pettavel murder case, the recent arrest of William Beech and Frances Hawthorn caused considerable excitement in Geelong. After a variety of evidence had been brought forward for two days, the prisoners were discharged. Sydney, April 22. Thomas Walker, freethought lecturer, appeared af the Water Police Conrt, today U> answer a charge of exhibiting obscene diagrams at a lecture delivered by him bearing on the Malthusian doctrine. A complimentary banquet was given to Hanlan last night by the members of the Mercantile Rowing Club. During the evening a presentation was made. Hunlan sails by the Zealandia. '
