Sydney, April 10. The attendance at Easter Monday review was enormous, and it was late at night before all returned home, fortunately without serious accident. All went off well except the torpedo portion, which was a partial failure. The show was therefore shorn of one of its principal attractions. The Governor read an elegantly phrased address to the troops, m which it was indicated that the Colony was quite prepared for eventualities. . The races at Kandwick were exceedingly successful. There was a splendid race for the Cup. Normanby ran like a racehorse, and just won at the post. He was well backed, Jones, the Sydney bookmaker, alone clearing .£12,006. The holidays have made business dull. The Austrian corvette Saida has arrived m the harbor. The Government has accepted the offer of wharf laborers to form ■ a Naval Brigade. Arrangements have been made by the Orient Company to connect their steam•rs with Suakiin, m order to facilitate communication with the New South Wales contingent. Bsisbane, Airil 10. A telegram has been received conveying news of the safety of the New Government steamer St. Lucihda. Nothing has yet been done towards the filling up of the vacant Supreme Court Judgeship. It is understood that Mr Bobert Little, Crown Solicitor, is about to resign, owing to continued ill-health. Melbourne, April 10. ' ' Twenty-eight applications were received for the post of Assistant-Locomo-tive Engineer, including that of Mr A. D. Smith, of Christchurch. Sir John Coode, now on his way to Western Australia, is to be invited to inspect the Harbor Trust Works.
