The Maori Millennium.
(UNITED PKKSS ASSOCIATION.* Auckland, March 28. A correspondent, writing from Hokianga on Thursday last, says Marie Pungare will hold forth at Kaikote. A large square is formed of whares, and all within the boundary laid down is sacred ground reserved for the elect. , The numbers of followers are increasing daily. The latest accounts state the number to be from 1500 to 1600. There is now some alarm felt by Europeans that when the collected provisions that are now brought m from all parts are used up, the fanatics will march on to glory by raiding the settlers residing m jhe district. Marie's last prophecy was that if the cleansing river did not appear on the 28th instant, and all elect assemble, as already foretold, she will suddenly disappear for three days. Should she not return after the three days, it portends that the pakeha has made away with her, and then the elect are to arise and avenge her death.
