(UNITED PRfcSS ASSOCIATION.} Dunediv, March 27. At the City Court, John Edwards, a prisoner, was sentenced to 14 days' bread and water for malingering. In roply to a deputation from policyholders m the Government Insurance Department, Sir Julius Yogel said no unreasonable delay would take place m calling Local Boards into existence. In the Chambers this morning letters of administration m the estate of the late .Captain Duncan were granted by iMr Justice Williams. Captain Duncan was master of the schooner Tauranga, which sailed for Tonga on the 10th June, and has not been heard of since. The insurance offices are ready to pay as soon as some one is appointed to take charge of the estate. The affidavits disclosed that there was a heavy gale from the N.E. a week after Captain Duncan sailed, and the ship was supposed to be lost m it. Auckland, March 27. A telegram from Waitara announces that the barque Matthew, 337 tons, owned by J. Ellis, of Newcastle, N.S.W. lias been wrecked at Kaipara Heads, a mile from the lighthouse. The weather is very unfavorable for the fete m aid of the sufferers by the earthquake m Spain. . / The fete for the relief of the sufferers from the earthquakes m Spain, which was held here to-day, was considerably marred by the almost continuous rain which fell throughout the day. Notwithstanding this the attendance of the public at the carnival held m Lancaster Park, and the concert m the Theatre Boyal m the evening, were both fairly well attended, and the total receipts amounted to considerably over .£IOO. The Governor sent a telegram to M. Arenas, Spanish Consul, regretting his inability to be present.
