m [Herald Correspondent.] Taupo, March 3. The natives on the southern shores of the Lake are holding a meeting re the sale of land to form a township at Tokano. All the principal chiefs are m favor of a township being made. There are a few obstructionists who hold out against the object m view. The Tanpo- Wanganui road, now under construction by the A.Cs., will pass through a native village called Wairaareno, on the southern side of Rotorua, between Ruapehu and Tongariro, and will cross the main trunk railway about 30 miles from the south-westarn shores of Lake Taupo.
