Arrival of the s.s. Doric at Auckland.
(united press association.) Auckland, Feb. 23. The Doric, Captain Jennings, arrived this evening. She left London on January 6th. The passage throughout was remarkably fine, Tasmania being made, including detention at Tenerifte, i*i 39 days, 14 hours, 22 minutes ; the best day's work being 343 miles, and the worst 258 miles. During the voyage two deaths occurred, one being an infant and the other a Government immigrant, who had been under medical treatment from the time of coming on board for oancer m the stomach. One birth occurred. Tho Doric brings 4000 tons of cargo. Amongst the passengers are a number of ladies and gentlemen making the round trip m the ship. She brings 21 saloon passengers, second saloon, 30 ; steerage, 40 ; and 114 Government immigrants, all for Auckland. No cases of sickness occurred during the voyage. She is expected to get away on Friday for the South. The immigrants are a respectable class of people.
