Melbourne, Jan. 52. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company held its usual weekly sale to-day, when a. fairly representative catalogue was submitted. There was the usual large attendance of buyers, and good competition was experienced, but prices generally showed a slight decline, particularly for, inferior sorts, m sympathy with the cables from London which report a rather unfavorable opening of the colonial auctions, Greasy merino - sold up to 9£d.
