Wellington Markets.
,Laeiy and Campbell report that business continues steady, and may be reported as good, although there is an abseuce o£ that rush which is generally noticeable at Christmas time, and prices hare not varied greatly since last report. Oats are certainly easier, and the demand is nothing like up the supply, samples are being offered from the growing districts daily, but we do not hear of any transactions m wheat, and we have to quote feed sorts as worth 2s 6d to 3s for good samples, inferior sorts are quite unsaleable and there is nothing at all doing m milling wheat. Flour, firstclass brands such as Fleming and Gilkison's, is worth £9 per ton. The enquiry for salt butter is very slight, and may be quoted at 6d ; fresh butter 7d ; eggs have sold as high as Is 6d per dozen, but they can hardly be expected to maintain that figure ; cheese 5d to s£d ; hams and bacon (m cloth), is without alteration ; potatoes are selling freely at £9 per ton ; fowls, 4s 6d ; ducks, 5s 6d ; turkeys, 7s to 8s ; onions are plentiful at about 2d per lb.
