(united press association.) Auckland, Dec. 28. The Bank of New Zealand was fined the lowest penalty of £50 for a technical breach of the Mining Machinery Act m not renewing the license held by the bank for crushing. A prisoner named Edward Murphy, sentenced to four months for larceny, escaped from the hard labour working party while m the charge of the warder cleaning the grounds of the Supreme Court. It has been ascertained that Sheehan, the suspected murderer, has had £365 to his crodit m the Bank of New Zealand since his arrival here, and allowed it to remain on deposit till be purchased a farm.
