• ■■■ Messrs Stevens «fc Gorton's Report. Bulls, Dec. 23. Messrs Stevens and Gorton report : — We held a very successful opening sale at our new yards at Woodvillo, on the 19th instaut. We yarded over 260 head of cattle. The attendance was large, and the bidding for steers spirited, but the demand for female stock, more particularly milch cows, was not so groat as we wero led to expect would bo the case. We sold over 190 head at the following rates :— Beef, £7 ; 3-yr steers, £4 ; 2 to 3-yr steers, £3 2s 6d to £3 I2s 3il ; yearling steers, 32s 6d to £2 ; 3-yr heifers, £3 10 ; yearling; heifers, £1 ; cows and calves, £2 Ids ; to £3 10s : milch cows, £3 to £4 15s. At Awahuri to-day, our stock sale was well attended, and tho bidding more spirited than it has been for some time. We sold all the cattle under the hammer excepting two cows, which were disposed of immediately after the sale at the original reserves. We yarded close on 100 head of cattle, and over 400 sheep. The following were the rates realized :— Fat bullocks, £7 17s 6d ; fat cows, £5 5s ; 2£-yr- steers, £3 Is 6d to £3 11s ; yearling steers, 32s to to 33s ; yearling heifers, 17s 6d ; yearlings mixed, 21s to 27s 6d ; 2-yr heifers, 31s ; milch cows, £2 to £3 ; cows and calves, £2 ss ; shorn hoggets, 6s lid ; hoggets m wool, 8s ; fat sheep passed m at 10s ; small pigs, 6s to 9s ; hacks, £3 to £6.
